Magnificent victories witnessed at Shawfield and Sheffield on 3rd April, 2012
Shawfield and Sheffield delivered some exciting races yesterday, on 3rd April, 2012. Shawfield was an arena of enthusiasm, when Boher Paddy triumphed in the Grade OR Bettor.com Scottish Derby 2012 2nd Round Heat 4 at 21:00 GMT.
The Charlie Lister trained hound entered the race as a favourite with the odds of 4 to 7. He lacked the pace in the beginning as Mill Pegasus led for the major part.
Boher Paddy was forced on to the rails, but he regained his composure and managed to defeat, Mill Pegasus, by ¾ of a length in 29.04 seconds. It was a much deserved victory for the son of Balintore Brave, out of mare Knock Princess.
Bettor.com Scottish Derby 2012 2nd Round Heat 3 was taken by Tudor Prince, son of Westmead Hawk, out of Old Fold, who defeated Liosgarbh Champ by a narrow margin of a head in 29.19 seconds. Mill Bling Bling raced as the evening’s favourite, but
finished in third place, ½ a length behind the runner-up.
The Grade OR Bettor.com Scottish Derby 2012 2nd Round Heat 2 also created a buzz as, Killieford Blaze, took the track by storm.
Trained by Julie Bateson, the son of Ballymac Maeve, out of Quare Deal, defeated his kennel mate, Bowtime Sykes, by a margin of 2 lengths in an impressive time of 29.23 seconds.
Grade OR Carling Chrome 3 Steps To Victory – 1st Semi-final was held at Sheffield yesterday and it created frenzy among the enthusiasts of the sport.
Rockburst Pearl emerged victorious as she defeated the race favourite Farloe Kyle by ½ a length in 28.96 seconds. Farloe Kyle brought his best to the race, and threatened Rockburst Pearl with his pace but lost by a narrow margin.
Matt Dartnall, Rockburst Pearl’s trainer, was pleased with his hound’s victory and her consistent performances throughout the season. Luminous Park finished in third place, 2 ¾ lengths after Farloe Kyle whereas Mr. Chow finished fourth in 29.46 seconds.
The final is scheduled to take place next Tuesday, where Rockburst Pearl, Bowtime Joey, Meadow Bank Owl, Farloe Kyle, Luminous Park, and Clerihans Gold will compete over 660 metres.
