Maha Haddioui finishes tied for 20th in Morocco
Maha Haddioui fired an overall score of 352 at the Lalla Aicha Tour School 2013, winning her LET (Ladies European Tour) card as she took the share of 20th position on the leaderboard.
It took Maha a great deal of patience and a sensible game on the last day of the five-round tournament to find a spot inside the top 20. She posted a 67 in the fifth round, boosting her position
in the nerve-racking final moments.
Although she got off to a sluggish start, her ramping up pressure from the third round did the trick, and she found herself rising to a higher position on the leaderboard.
She posted a 69 in the third round—a much better score as compared to what she did on the first two rounds.
The last round proved a turning point in Maha’s scoring campaign. Starting off on the back nine, she missed a par-putt on the 10th and ended up carding a bogey. But the star golfer
was quick to regain her composure as she reeled off birdies on the 11th and 13th hole.
Maha reversed the situation for herself on the front nine. She launched four straight birdies from the 1st to 4th hole. On the par-5 7th, she posted another
birdie, but could not keep it up on the 9th as she registered a bogey.
Sharing her thoughts at the end of the end of the tournament on Monday evening, Maha said that she could not make a strong start to her campaign in the final round as she made a lousy shot
on the first hole, but she soon overcame her nerves.
“I was so stressed going into the final round and I started with a bogey and it was really tough. I had a series of really good holes so I’m really happy,” said the young gun.
She further said that she has been working hard on the practice range, and it has helped her fix flaws in her long and short game.
“I’ve put in a lot of work and finally it’s paying off”.
Amateur Ariya Jutanugarn held her nerve till the final moment of the tournament. She shot an overall score of 336, winning the event and her LET membership.
