Mahbooba to battle through the lineup of eight in the Group 2 Cape Verdi on 20th January ay Meydan
Mahbooba trained by M De Kock is without doubt the most deserving entry for the Group 2 Cape Verdi that is to be raced on 20th January at the Meydan, but it should be borne in mind that there is a versatile line up for the race
which can become a potential threat for the five-year-old filly in case she relaxes or gets over confident about the victory being inevitable.
M De Kock has already won the race in 2008 with the South African horse, Sun Classique, and as far as the trends of this particular race go, no trainer, jockey or owner has been able to get the title under their belt more than once. However, who knows
that M De Kock’s luck might as well get him to win the title again after three years.
His other entry for the race is Reem. About whom De Kock said:
"Reem disappointed in England but ran a great race on the Meydan turf last year behind our River Jetez over 1m1f so hopefully she can show us a bit more on Friday”.
Perhaps an equally lethal entry in the race besides Mahbooba is that of, Addictive Dream trained by David Nicholls, who has won both her starts during the Carnival, and now is heading towards the third goal in mind.
After winning the Etisalat My Plan handicap on 12th January at Meydan with the eight-year-old Barbecue Eddie, Doug Watson is testing Al Sharood for this challenge, and was reported as saying:
"She is in great form and weare looking forward to running her but obviously Mahbooba is going to be hard to beat”.
Sooraah, who has been giving her trainer listed victories since a while now, would be contesting for the Group 2 Cape Verdi, and Tom Dascombe trained Rhythm Of Light will also be tested in the race.
Trained by Al Raihe, the six-year-old First City has not raced since September 2011. Jim Bolger will get represented in the race through, Hurricane Havoc, while Ken Condon will enter, Marvada for assuring his chances at the race.
Mahbooba was specifically brought down to Dubai for winning the Al Rashidiya Trial, now if she is able to succeed through the second opportunity that her connections are viewing than that will be a bonus for her connections.
