Mahbooba to compete in the AlRashidiya at Meydan on 5th January
The five-year-old bay filly of Galileo out of Sogha, trained by Mike De Kock, Mahbooba, is headed for the Dubai World Cup Carnival 2012. She will take part in the AlRashidiya Trial, which will be raced over a distance of a mile and a furlong.
The rest of the lineup besides Mahbooba includes 17 other contestants for the Trial.
Mahbooba, has been racing since March 2010 and won her debut on 17th March, 2010, at Greyville in the Maiden race.
She has won five out of the twelve career starts, and has been ridden by many jockeys, though consistently ridden by Christophe Soumillon for a four race streak.
Mahbooba posted her second career win on 27th April, 2010, at Scottsville in the Grade 2 The Debutante.
The next victory would have entitled her for a hat-trick, but the tempo broke when she came third in the Grade 1 Allen Robertson Championship on 29th May at Scottsville. She was sent as 7 to 2 favourite for the race.
She bounced back gamely in her next race, that was on 3rd July, 2010, when she won the Grade 1 Golden Slipper at Clairwood. The evening’s favourite claimed the seven furlongs track in no time to glorify her record.
By far her most influential victory remains to be at Meydan, where she won the UAE 1000 Guineas Sponsored By Etisalat on 3rd February, 2011. Yet again a highly significant event where she was entered as the 8 to 11 favourite.
The last race that she won was at Newmarket on 23rd September, the Aqlaam Godolphin Stakes where she forced the 9 to 4 favourite of the race, Myplacelater, to a miserable defeat as he finished last.
After that she has raced just once and lost it.
She has seldom finished worse than third besides the two instances where she came fifth and sixth.
Some English horse entries for 5th January’s card include Canwinn, Mabait, Banna Boirche, Modern History, Balducci, which goes up to eighteen, including other places as well.
