Mahela Jayawardene admits Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 bowled well – Cricket news
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils skipper Mahela Jayawardene on Thursday admitted that his batsmen failed to counter the Kings XI Punjab’s impressive bowling show in the 67th match of the ongoing 2013 Indian Premier League.
The match was played at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Himachal-Pradesh-c791 Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, which they lost by seven runs.
“The wicket did a bit and their bowlers did well,” said Jayawardene at the post-match presentation ceremony after the narrow defeat. “Needed to settle in, they bowled good areas, we lost wickets, Ben batted well but wasn't good enough. We wanted to change
a few things, up front was going to be tough so changed them. Need to reduce our mistakes.”
Adam Gilchrist led Kings XI Punjab side eked out a close seven-run win over the Daredevils to keep alive their slim chances of making it to the tournament IPL playoffs, commencing at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi from May 21, 2013.
After being put into bat, Kings XI first rode on David http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318 and skipper Gilchrist’s aggressive knocks to post a competitive total of 171 for 4. Gilchrist scored 42 runs from 26 balls, while Miller played a blistering unbeaten knock of 44 runs from just
24 balls, studded with four sixes and three fours. Australian import Shaun Marsh also contributed a 44-ball 45 to help the side post a challenging total.
Chasing the 172-run target to win, Delhi lost its key guns David Warner (0), Unmukt Chand (7) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Rohrer-c1139 top scored for the Daredevils with a 29-ball 49 towards the end, but his
late blitz were not enough to help the side chase down the target. Skipper Mahela Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag were the other two notable performers with 39 and 30 runs respectively.
“Slight chance yep, watch with interest what happens next couple of days,” said the Kings XI skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918 after the match. “Miller's come off age this season, the world now knows his value. Not surprised with Sandeep's success, he's aggressive
and you want to keep an eye on it.”
