The dejected Kochi Tuskers Kerala captain, Mahela Jayawardene, has admitted that his team lacked consistency in their debut Indian Premier League edition.
The Tuskers were knocked out of the tournament after an embarrassing six-wicket defeat to Kings XI Punjab in the 57th season-4 game on Friday, May 13, 2011.

Deploring on his team not-so-impressive performance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 outfit, Jayawardene acknowledged that the Tuskers had their decent chances in the competition but failed to take hold of crucial moments.
"It is disappointing (to be out of reckoning). We had our chances in the tournament but we did not grab them. We haven`t been consistent," Jayawardene said.
The Lankan batsman added, "You had to convert half chances if you want to win and move ahead. We failed to do that at crucial moments. But I think we can take positives from our performance this season.”
When asked about the terrible performance of his team’s middle-order against Kings XI, the classy right-hander described that they were 15-20 run short of the desired total. He explained that even though his side took a fantastic start but could not able
to take full advantage of death overs.
A visibly-disappointed Jayawardene expressed, "We knew it was a small boundary, that is why we would have chased as well (if we won the toss). We did not bowl well after picking up those early wickets. We came back into the match with R http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Singh-c80572 getting the
wickets but that was not enough."
Talking about his own excellent innings of 76 runs, the former Lankan skipper stated that he has been enjoying batting at the top of the order.
Meanwhile, he urged his players to come up with improved performance in the upcoming games and finish the tournament off on a good note.
