Mahela Jayawardene plans for clash against Rajasthan Royals
Sri Lankan middle order batsman, Mahela Jayawardene, said to his Kochi Tuskers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals on Sunday,
May 15, 2011.
Kochi failed to defend 179 runs target successfully as Punjab’s pair of Danish Karthik and Shaun Marsh smashed their patchy spinners and pacers at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
Kochi Tuskers have played 12 matches so far in their debut Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign, moreover, Jayawardene insisted that it is the time Tuskers should start getting their plans right.
The former Sri Lankan Captain said that they know the ground and the conditions here and that will definitely facilitate them in the next match. They need to make better plans in the bowling department and implement them on the field instead of hitting the
deck hard.
Whilst the Tuskers went into their miserable game against Kings XI Punjab without http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muttiah-Muralitharan-c78157, the Kochi Skipper was tentative to get the Sri Lankan off-spinner back for the match against Rajasthan.
"We already have http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Hodge-c1184 who can bowl a bit of spin. So, we might decide to go with a four-pronged pace attack because that has worked well for us in the past. There is some assistance for the pace bowlers at Holkar," he added.
Jayawardene has scored 293 runs in 12 games with an average of 24.41. He has been in good form so far and urged his batsmen to perform and support him.
Brendon McCullum and Ravindra Jadeja have been reasonable. However, Brad Hodge and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parthiv-Patel-c2159 have been in a slump. Owais Shah has been included in the playing XI just now.
"We've often been 20-odd runs short of where we should've been. McCullum plays the way he does and sometimes gets out early. If we have some partnerships in the middle overs, we could end with 15 or 20 more runs, which could make all the difference," concluded
Jayawardene.
Both teams do not have a rational opportunity to qualify for the semi-final stage of the tournament.
The Rajasthan skipper, Shane Warne, is expected to quit cricket after the current league. His side will be looking to send him off on a high note.
Warne has been lauded globally for his captaincy of the Rajasthan side and he would be looking to end his stint with a bang.
