Former Sri Lankan skipper, Mahela Jayawardene, has expressed concerns over senior players’ performance in the recent International competitions, and said that the time has come for the seniors to take responsibility.

Jayawardene believes the senior members of the troop will have to step up in order to end recent struggles in the traditional form of the sport, while at the same time nurture the talent of young lads in the side.
"We might not be here for that long but while we are we have to make sure that we build a team, make sure that these guys are comfortable and they will take Sri Lanka cricket on for the next 10 to 15 years and try and improve on what
everyone else has done,” Jayawardene said in a release issued by Dubai Sports City.
The classy right-handed batsman meanwhile expressed full faith on the youngsters, saying that the new generation of Lankan cricketers is very talented and has the ability to do equally well.
"I think we've achieved quite a bit in Sri Lanka cricket in the past 20 years, there are a lot of people who are part and parcel of that and we have carried that forward, and hopefully the next generation will do the same," added
the 34-year-old former skipper.
