Mahela Jayawardene warns Daredevils against complacency ahead of KKR game – Cricket News Update
The Delhi Daredevils vice-captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397, has warned the side against complacency ahead of a crucial match against Kolkata Knight Riders at home, Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, on Monday, May 7,  2012.
Speaking to the media reporters on the eve of the match against KKR, which is anticipated to be a clash of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Titans-c856, the Sri Lankan skipper and top-order batsman said that it will be a “highly interesting” game, and urged the side to execute the game plan
properly to dethrone Daredevils from the top.
“It is going to be a highly interesting match, we simply can’t be complacent...The Knight Riders are definitely going great guns,” said Jayawardene at the pre-match press conference on Sunday.
“Gautam (Gambhir) is doing a great job and is leading from the front...Their top order is doing so well that the middle order is not getting enough time. Whatever game plan we have against them, we have to execute it properly,” the Sri Lankan insisted.
After finishing last season at the bottom, Virender Sehwag-led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils have been quite consistent right from the start of the ongoing 2012 season and have led the points table for the major part of the tournament so far.
On the other side of the coin, the Knight Riders seem to have found their momentum under new skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447. King Khan’s KKR reached the tournament playoffs last season and seem in a strong position to qualify for the eliminators this season as well.
Gambhir’s Knight Riders trail Daredevils by just one point and a victory today would allow them to dethrone the latter at the top of the IPL-V points table.
Asked if there would be an extra pressure on Daredevils to maintain their position at the top of the table, the Sri Lankan top order batsman said that it would be positive pressure, which would motivate the players to give their best.
“I think if we can put ourselves under pressure to remain the No.1 team, that would be a positive way of looking at pressure,” said Jayawardene, adding that they want to finish the group stage at the top.
