Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Delhites to receive crores from Delhi Government
The World Cup winning captain of the Indian team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, left-handed batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780, will be given cheques by the Delhi government, as opposed to cash awards planned earlier.
Apart from Dhoni and Gambhir, other players who will be rewarded by the Delhi government include explosive opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Nehra-c873.
The government officials are fully aware of the fact that it is not possible for them to get Dhoni and the rest of superstars under one roof, therefore they opted to send them cheques instead.
Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of Delhi, shared that she had contacted the aforementioned players but since they were busy with International tours, they conveyed that they cannot attend the function.
Dikshit shared, “We hoped that the players will be able to come (for a felicitation function). I had written letters to them. The players are on tours and it looks impossible to get them all together. So we have decided to send them cheques.”
The Delhi government had announced cash rewards for the skipper and each player hailing from Delhi, who was part of the national side that won the 2011 World Cup.

The Indian players have been showered with gifts ever since. All members of the Indian team were gifted the Verna RB sedan by Hyundai, apart from a cash reward of Rs. 1 crore for each player, from the Board for Control of Cricket in India.
