Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has blamed his new ball bowlers for the loss in the third One Day International (ODI) of the five-match series against England at the Oval, on September 9, 2011.
England defeated the Men in Blue by three wickets in the rain affected match. The home team is leading the series by 2-0 and has made sure that they cannot lose the series now, even if they lose the last two matches against India.
The wicketkeeper batsman feels that there was a lot of help for India’s slow bowlers in the second innings but the fast bowlers conceded too many runs at the start, which helped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 take the advantage.
The Indian team has so far had a disastrous tour of England, as they were whitewashed in the four-match Test series and lost the only T20 match of the tour as well. With just two more ODIs to be played in the tour, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 is still searching for a victory.
Dhoni feels that it was imperative for his fast bowlers to bowl on good channels with the new ball, but that was not the case and the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MM-Patel-c1987 gave a lot of scoring opportunities to the English top order batsmen.
“The first 10 overs were crucial. We gave away too many runs. Otherwise spinners would have had a few more runs to play with. It's not the first time it has happened to us. If the rivals have to chase more than six runs per over, it becomes difficult for
them but we gave away too many runs upfront,” said Dhoni.
The Indian captain is of the opinion that his team has not been very lucky in the present tour but claimed that the morale of the team is still very high and they have the ability to bounce back in the remaining two matches of the series.
Dhoni added, “The boys are excited. They want to give more than 100 per cent. When it comes to motivational factor, we are not down and out. Luck at times hasn't been with us but the morale is high.”
