http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 after a mixed season – Cricket News Update
The Captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, wants his side to play with consistency in the future, after they had a mixed 2011 season.
The Men in Blue had their high and lows during the last year. The year 2011 started with India winning the World Cup, but things started to change as the year progressed. The Indians received a thrashing on their tour of England and then again Down Under
against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Hoping to turn things around in the current season and to get back to their winning ways, Dhoni said, “It was a mixed season for us. We had ups and downs. We won the World Cup which was very big for us. After that, we did not do well in England and Australia.
We will like to be more consistent wherever we go. In the coming years, we would like to be consistent in whatever format we play.”
The Indian team looked below par during the tour of Australia and England, and the players were showing signs of fatigue, and one of the prime reasons for that was the tight schedule. There was little gap between the series, therefore the players did not
have enough time to get their energy levels up.
Sharing his views on the matter, Dhoni said, “It was tough in the sense to play the World Cup at home. Too much of expectations, then you visit the countries where you are supposed to do well and you are hit by injuries.”
Indian players are currently participating in IPL season 5, which will end in May. The national side does not have any international commitments until June, and this gives the players a window of one month to revitalise themselves, and it is something Dhoni
is looking forward to.
He said, “It is a big season for us. The last T20 game we played was officially the last game of the season. We will get a break after the IPL.”
Dhoni will be leading the Chennai Super Kings in IPL5. CSK are the reigning champions and will start their IPL campaign against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians with a game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 4.
