Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s second honeymoon plan dashed by BCCI
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s plan to enjoy the second honeymoon with his wife Sakshi during Team India’s upcoming tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI).
The board's eleventh hour decision to drop Dhoni for this series on grounds of rest has perturbed the couple. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 will now lead the Men in Blue.
Team India is scheduled to visit the Caribbean next month to play a 5-match ODI and a Test series.
As the Indian players have been on field for the last couple of months, they have been exhausted and unable to give time to their families.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 remained in operation from February 18 to April 2 and with a gap of just 6 days, the Indian Premier League (IPL) started.
Dhoni is leading the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, in the ongoing IPL season.
He led Team India to become the first cricketing nation to lift the World Cup Trophy at the home and has become a legend overnight.
The BCCI wants to give him full rest so that he may be ready for the Test series against West Indies and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in this summer.
Talking to the media, the chief selector of the team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Krishnamachari-Srikkanth-c71750 said, “None of the senior players wrote to us or request for leave. We realised that there are seven tough Tests (against West Indies and England) in the next three months. It
is important for all our players to be in top fitness.”
Apart from Dhoni, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zaheer-Khan-c98451, Sachin Tendulkar and Virendar Sehwag are also on rest. They will join the team for the Tests.
At the end of the IPL season, on May 28, Dhoni will spend time with his family after long on-field commitments. However, his desire to tour Caribbean with his wife will not be fulfilled now.
