and Jean-Julien Rojer in straight sets in the final showdown).
The Indian duo dusted away the only breakpoint they came across to keep their entire serves. They capitalised on two out of eight break chances to formulate a 7-6(6), 6-3 score line in one hour and 24 minutes.
Currently ranked fifth in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Doubles Rankings, Bhupathi and Bopanna faced great success this circuit. They reached far at several tournaments including many Masters 1000 events. However, Bhupathi and Bopanna showed drastic
performance at the London Olympics and at the Grand Slam events.
Bhupathi reflected in a post match press conference in Paris Bercy:
“We have been very consistent at the [ATP World Tour] Masters 1000s. It has been a little disappointing in the [Grand] Slams, but we have made up for it here.”
After capturing their second year-to-date title, Bhupathi and Bopanna are looking forward to maintain their intensity at the O2 Arena where world’s best eight teams play against each other.
Bopanna reflected in a courtside interview after conquering their rivals in the title-round of the Paris Masters:
“It is definitely the best week we have played all season. We are very happy with the way we played and I hope we can take this form to London. The [Barclays ATP World Tour] Finals is one of the best events we have in tennis, especially being in England
with the public appreciating tennis so much. Hopefully momentum can carry us on to do well next week.”
Bhupathi and Bopanna are seeded sixth in London. They are drawn in Group B which comprises the like of second seeds, Belarus’ Max Mirnyi and Canada’s Daniel Nestor, and the fourth seeded Swedish-Romanian pair, Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau.
