Mahima Aggarwal, Shikha Gautam win Girl’s Doubles title in State Ranking Badminton Tournament  
The spirited duo Mahima Aggarwal-Shikha Gautam turned out to be invincible in the title match of Girl’s Doubles Under-17 category of Udupi 5 Star State Ranking Badminton Tournament on July 11, 2012.
They outclassed top seeded Meghana Kulkarni-Rachita Patil by registering favourable result of 21-10 and 21-18.
Though, this final encounter concluded in just 25 minutes but both teams mesmerised the crowd which assembled in local badminton club of Udupi, India.
Doubles experts Mahima and Shikha played with great conviction against higher ranked opponents and registered a splendid straight-set victory.
On the other hand, Meghana and Rachita could not find their lost form throughout this tussle and surrendered tamely.
The battle heated up straight away in the first set when Mahima-Shikha prevailed in opening rallies without any trouble.
They established immediate lead with 5-1 and then doubled the impact by entering 8-3 total. They did not lose this rhythm and kept their rivals at lower end all the way to mid-game break.
After bagging three consecutive points, they were standing at dominating position of 11-4 which helped them to start second half with an upper hand.
However, the opposing shuttlers showed some spark after the break as they added six valuable points in their total before losing the first set.
Meghana and Rachita controlled overall pace of the game and dominated in three rallies without any interruption.
The twosome of Mahima and Shikha put their expedition to halt and hammered them in third quarter of the set.
They snatched ten out of last 13 points to finish opening game with an overwhelming figure of 21-10.
Next game was full of sensation as both compatriot teams chased each other all the way to game point situation.
Neither team could gain a notable advantage in first half as they were standing on the same level until 11-10 score on the board.
After one-minute break, Meghana and Rachita made up the difference with three back-to-back points but their competitors brought the contest to the right balance with 14-14 margin.
They remained close until 19-18 but then Mahima-Shikha pocketed final two points to seal their victory with convincing figure of 21-18.
