Mahima Aggarwal tames Mira Mahadevan in quarter-final showdown at State Ranking Badminton Tournament
Mahima Aggarwal, a talented female shuttler from India, remained consistent in her hunting on court as she crushed her team-mate Mira Mahadevan in Girl’s Singles U17 quarter-final of Udupi 5 Star State Ranking Badminton Tournament in India, on Tuesday, July
10.
The in-form Mahima, who has been positioned at number two in Girl’s Singles seeding of the event, proved too strong for her un-seeded rival and won the battle easily in an emphatic fashion.
The higher ranked Mahima showed a strong character on court when she played aggressive and controlled badminton and easily overpowered her compatriot in straight games with an amazing margin on the board.
The lower ranked Mira, on the other hand, failed to show her brilliance against the second seeded Mahima and crashed out at the quarter-final stage without putting up strong resistance.
In the first game, it was Mahima who stamped her supremacy on court by pushing her rival in a defensive position and easily took an early lead without facing any trouble.
The higher ranked Mahima remained on track in opening half of first game and created a huge gap on the score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Mira geared up her speed at net to disturb the flow of her rival but failed to take any advantage as Mahima was quick in taking the bird.
The second seeded Indian continued her positive play on court and eventually claimed the first set with a huge 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, Mira showed a wonderful resistance by playing aggressive badminton in opening points but failed to stop her rival from taking a reasonable lead on the board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Mahima started to execute fast drop shots and also used impressive deception in her shots. She commanded the rallies in the ending phase of second set while remaining focused in the court.
Mahima remained successful in grabbing the second set with a remarkable 21-15 score on the board.
The in-form Mahima overpowered Mira in straight games by putting up 21-14 and 21-15 score on the board.
