Mahmood Al Zarooni’s Kinglet and Saeed bin Suroor’s Rassam to compete for the UAE 2,000 Guineas Trial on 12th January at Meydan
The $50,000 UAE 2,000 Guineas Trial, sponsored by Etisalat, will be held on 12th January, at the Meydan, and out of fourteen entries, two of them are the Godolphin Racing entries.

Kinglet, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni, will be taking part along with Saeed bin Suroor trained Rassam. This would be the first race of the day, in which both the trainees will encounter each other.
On the same day the two trainers will again come face to face in the Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1, which stands out to be the sixth race of the day.
The three-year-old Irish colt, son of Dansili out of Vantive, Rassam was very impressive in his debut race, that he won on 9th November, 2011.

He was sent as the 4 to 7 favourite for the Back And Lay At Betdaq.Com EBF Maiden Stakes at Kempton, and was successful in a field of eleven, winning with a margin of seven lengths, ridden by William Buick.
Saeed bin Suroor said:
“Rassam worked nicely on Sunday and is doing well. It looks like a wide-open race and I am looking forward to seeing how he gets on”.
Rassam will be racing after two months, and will have Frankie Dettori riding him through the seven furlong track.

The three-year-old colt, son of Kingmambo out of Karen’s Caper, Kinglet has raced four times last year, out of which he has won twice.

First, he won the Maiden Stakes on 5th August, 2011, at Newmarket, and then the Betdaq Mobile Apps Conditions Stakes at Kempton, on 12th October, 2011, by a significant margin of 2 ¼ lengths.
Mahmood Al Zarooni remarked:
“Kinglet has improved a little bit since last season and I am hoping that he can build on his latest win at Kempton Park. He raced up with the pace on that occasion but I think we might try to settle him in behind”.
Kinglet’s first victory was with Frankie Dettori, while the second being ridden by Silvestre De Sousa.

This time around he will be ridden by the Australian jockey, Mickael Barzalona.
Whether it will be the fourth victory for Mahmood Al Zarooni or the third for Saeed bin Suroor in the Dubai World Cup Carnival, is yet to be seen.
