I think I have to agree with the maid here.

I was beaten up by a bunch of portugese thugs when i was walking back to my hotel. 2 years ago. I was totaly innocent, but they treated me like a criminal,and even tho i woz the one beaten up i was the one locked in the cells for the night. The portugese police did not give a flying fig and praktically told me to clear off back where i came from.i think she is right about the greasy a******s.i wont be going back there in a hurry.

She is also right that you sould not name people on here and i have reported you too.

Gosh! Ronny was right. Shes appeared!! And she is so sure of everything, and so hateful towards anyone who doesn't toe the line. She should apply for Clarence's Job. I'm certain she would  do it for free. Fair play to you Maid who cannot be named!

Maid from Cornwall, are you Clarence?? Actually is a question. So if you can get one simple assertion/interpretation wrong, then why should we believe anything you say? To be honest why do you bother? People have opinions, and life goes on, perhaps you should just learn to ignore these Q/A places, for the sake of your health. You just come across as rude, and intolerant just because you lived someplace once, and you seem to think you are the the authoritative voice on the subject. Your not! A hard pill to swallow, but the truth often is!

And while im at it Maid look at some of the postings on here and els where. I dont mean the postings by ignorant people who say hateful things about the Mccanns. I mean people who put together very reasoned and intelligent observations, based on the information they possess, and who have a sense of decency about them. They could run circles around people like you who see Black and White!

I used to think Q/A was a slagging off shop, but many good members have intelligent things to say, they are just wound up by people like you!! MAID WHO MUST BE OBEYED!!

lol at old geezer ....i have holidayed in the resort at just the same time of year as the mccanns with my children and found it to be a great holiday destination and i did not witness 'nasty, men lurking around corners (as she claims) i also came home with all my children must be becaue i took care of their needs before considering the attractions of the bar.....

he doesn't address the fact that she is ill informed about the behaviour of the people she so violently supports.....

yes i was there for two weeks on a family holiday - it was a lovely friendly place ....i didn't see any weirdos lurking but i wouldn't think for a second of going out on the town leaving my babies alone in the apartment ....we are of a different generation i suspect ....and family holidays mean just that .....

i am closer in age etc to the mccanns which makes their recklessness all the harder to understand

Hello my public!!!! Maid in Cornwall has made an appearance. Sorry  If I happen to hold a different opinion from the "anti" McCann's, but has anyone else noticed that it's only the "anti's who ask questions about the McCanns 12 months on? Michael, thanks for your support, but I didn't actually live in Luz for 15 years, I owned the apartment for 15 years, but  we lived there for 7 years. And YES sardine man,  I DID come to despise the Country, and it's people. I still visit occassionally as my sister-in-law still lives there, and still suffer the wrath of the ignorant shop assistants, and general public. Life in Portugal is entirely different when you live there, and NOT just on holiday, when they're happy to take the "Brits" money. Yes!!! It is ENTIRELY different!!!

As for why didn't I report the "nasty little man" lurking about on the beach, It may SURPRISE YOU ALL that I DID, on a few occasions, but the pair of Portugese police were too busy oggling the topless totty on Luz beach, and took absolutely no notice at all. Probably the reason Portugal has an appalling paedaphile record, which is a known fact.

The McCanns went jogging, and played tennis the day after Maddie went missing?? Yet ANOTHER vicious rumour invented by a Portugese pool attendant at the Ocean club. From the day Maddie disappeared, the press camped outside the apartment, morning, noon and night, and followed the McCanns everywhere. They would NEVER miss an opportunity to print that they saw Gerry playing tennis, and I challenge ANYONE to find a link from ANY newspaper. How easilly people are sucked in, is just unbelievable!!!!

And as for you, my friend. I see you are new to Y.A. so you probably are not aware that you have NOT asked a question, AND  naming another user is against Y.A. policies, so I am afraid you are REPORTED!!!!!!

Not fluently, granted, but enough to understand what the Portugese people were talking about whenever I, or anyone British  entered a shop, or bar. and I DO know how to order a coffee in Portugese. As for my Sister-in-law. Did I say she hated Portugal? I don't believe I did, as in fact she loves the dump.(more fool her.) Forever in bluejeans...... why am I not surprised at your plight? I know of MANY similar happenings involving British people, and I'm glad you have the good sense to boycott Portugal in future. If you could understand what was said about you in the shops and bars, when they think you cannot understand their language, there would be plenty more.

I DO actually agree the McCanns acted very stupidly by leaving their kids alone, and they couldn't have picked a worse Country to do it in. Had Ben Neadham gone missing in Portugal, and not Greece, HIS mother would NOW be in prison, (after a good beating in the cells)

About your poor sister, who continues te family tradition of enduring life in a place she hates, if she makes a wee little effort to adjust, something very "un-british" to do, I know, maybe her life gets better...

Portuguese people live and work all over the World. We get there and we adjust to the hosting nation's culture and language.

I have loads of British friends living in Portugal. Great guys. But after 23 years (!?!?!?!?) some of them still can't ask for a coffee in Portuguese!

And they still give abuse to the supermarket manager (in english, of course...) because he doesn't import black pudding for ONE customer!
