Mail De Bievre to take on Sprinter Sacre in Champion Chase
Mail De Bievre has been listed in the Champion Chase to take on Sprinter Sacre. This will definitely spice up the competition, as both runners are in very good form and have been making their respective teams proud over the years.
The latter of the above two challengers is certainly one of the best stallions of the modern era, as he has maintained a terrific strike rate. He has won numerous events with ease and doesn’t make life easy for his opponents at any level.
Overall, he has represented his team in a total of 13 races, winning 11 of them, which clearly shows that he is a dominant performer. It is not easy to maintain such high standards, especially at the highest level of the sport.
Other than his victories, the Nicky Henderson’s trainee has finished as a runner up once whereas secured the third spot on the same number of times. No one has managed to drop him out of the top three even once in his career and his current form is excellent
too.
During the ongoing season, he has participated in just one event and succeeded in it quite comfortably, which shows that he is not rusty at all. As a result, most of his rivals started dropping out of the Champion Chase.
However, Mail De Bievre likes challenges and knows how to deliver strong results under pressure. Therefore, he will be the one taking on the likes of Sprinter Sacre.
The eight-year-old gelding needs to work a bit on his form though, as he has not been delivering good results in recent times. He finished fifth in his most recent outing, which shows that he needs a lot of improvement.
Overall, he has participated in 15 races, winning five of them whereas secured the runner up spot on four occasions.
His trainer Tom George seems to be quite confident at the moment and tweeted: “Mail De Bievre has been supplemented for the Champion Chase. He has delighted us with his work since his reappearance at Newbury last month and the drop back in trip should be
to his advantage, making use of his long stride and jumping.”
