  1. If its a normal letter, it needs a first class stamp... 42 cents.

  2. A 42 cent stamp will get it there.  Unless you're a LONG letter writer that will do.   The more pages you put in the envelope the more it will cost.  If you're only sending a few sheets, 42 cents.  If it's over 1/4 inch thick, please take it to the Post Office.

  3. There is no one, easy, simple answer to your question, as there is not enough information given.  What size envelope?  (Outsized envelopes cost more to mail.)  How much does it weigh?  (Postage also depends on the number of ounces that the envelope weighs.)  What "class" are you mailing it?  (First class, bulk class, third class, etc.  They all have different units of measure/cost ratio.)

A standard-sized, regular-weighted, first-class envelope will cost you one first-class postage stamp to mail from anywhere in the U.S. to anywhere else in the U.S.  (Mailing outside the U.S. will cost more.)  The cost of the postage stamp will depend on what the USPS is charging at the time you mail the envelope.  (Currently, I believe it is either 42 or 43 cents for one first-class stamp.)

When in doubt, I usually take the envelope to the post office and have them weigh it -- sometimes I get carried away in writing (as you can see here! ha!), and my letter(s) may weigh more than the "one-stamp" ounces require.

  4. enough for a good stamp
