Question:

Mail fraud?

I'm a part of a website where people can trade used items via USPS.

I negotiated a trade with someone and I received her end but I didn't mail my end out because I lost the item I was supposed to send to her.

I removed my account from this website, but this person tracked me down and called me and left a voice message on my phone saying that she would file mail fraud charges.

(The item was worth around 20 dollars)

If she were to file mail fraud charges, what would happen to me? Would I have to pay? How much? Would it be a court matter?

  1. simple as this send her an e-mail saying your going to give her money back save the email with her agreeing to recieve the money and pay her back. and yes it would be a court matter. and the councidential thing is the lowest amount you are allowed to sue through a court is 20$. and if they have evidence that you intentionally were planing to take her money with out giving nothing in return in some cases not all there's jail time. less than 20 years. if you have caller  i.d try to contact her, she found you, it shouldn't be hard to find her. in your case is a low amount of money so i doubt they will give you jail time.

  2. Why would you remove yourself from the website? Either send the item back or send her a money order for the 20 bucks, a gift certificate to WalMart, anything but to run and hide like that just wasn't right.

In regards to her taking legal action, if she is able to do such, you can best believe its going to cost you more than the $20.

Time off from work, court cost, etc.
