Mail question about small package?

I am mailing a Scotch Smart Mailer package-size 6 IN X 9 IN. can I use a regular stamp or do I need to go to the post office and get a 42 cent stamp? I am gonna mail it to Santa Ana California

  1. Assuming you're in the US, you can go to the usps.com site and find out. At the top, there is a link for "Calculate Postage". On the next screen, you'll click "Calculate Domestic Postage". From there it's fill in the blanks.

    It sounds like you have a "large envelope" judging by the size. As long as it's between 1/4 inch and 3/4 inch thick, you can mail in this category. You will need to weigh it to get the right postage. Stamps are fine for postage, but it will probably take more than 42 cents.

    If 13 ounces or over, you will need to hand to a postal employee personally.
