Mailbox detached?

my mailbox detached from the mailbox post, and now its on the ground. but its still there. i havent gotten mail in a week, is it legal for the mailman not to deliver my mail because my mailbox isnt attached to the post?

  1. You have to learn Mailboxes regulations.  The other poster is correct, as a penalty, you do not received mails.  Mailboxes height is also standard,  the standard says mailboxes should be about 3.5 ft to 4 ft. from the ground then it should maintained in that height.  I have place a link of a mailboxes regulation, please check, the first one is from USPS (US Postal Service)

  2. No it is the other way around, it is illegal for you not to maintain your mailbox.
