Mailing a letter from Canada to America. How many STAMPS do I need?

I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, and need to mail a letter to Virginia, USA.

Do I need a certain number of stamps or like any special stamps to mail to America?

I'd really like to know because I need to mail it soon.

You need $0.96 worth of stamps to send a regular letter to the States.
