I just bought something and it is being shipped by usps. Does the mailman knock on your door to give you the package?

  1. It depends upon the details of your situation. If your front door is less than 1/4 mile from a major road, he will typically ring your door bell and give you the package. If you have a mailbox on a major road, but your house is not on that road, he may put the package in your mailbox if it fits. If your house is fairly isolated, he may just drive up your driveway and drop the package in an area he considers appropriate.

If you're not home, he may leave the package by your front door, on your porch, or by your back door. He may also leave you a note telling you he will try to deliver the package again tomorrow and that you can pick it up at the post office.

  2. no he rings the door bell.
