  1. consequences of a person's behaviour and action to infer ae person's intentions. eg if you observe someone striking another person correspondent inference theory suggests that you are likely to assume that the attacker is motivated by a desire to inflict harm. the attacker may not have been acting maliciously. intention is inferred from the most easily-observable consequences of a person's actions.
