Question:

Maintaining ATT DSL while converting to Vonage?

I have ATT phone and DSL services at home and want to convert to Vonage for phone. I also want to port over my phone #. ATT can give me dry DSL (DSL without phone service), but they take a while to convert and they cant commit a date. And I need the phone service to be active when Vonage tries to port over my phone #. What should I do first so that it can all be done smoothly?

  1. no!! nothing is ever smooth with AT&T!!

I had to wait 4 month for my phone number to port from AT&T.....I was so angry, because I had to pay 2 phone bills for 4 month!!

I had called AT&T so many times and ask how is my porting going. My VoIP provider had told me that AT&T is holding on to my number!!!

Also, in order to get a dry DSL line from AT&T, well....more problem.....they only for NEW customer, I was told!!

so, I got tid of AT&T all together, got myself a new ISP and new VoIP and I never wanna hear from AT&T again!!!

I think they hate to loose customer and our business!!!

  2. Everyone dealing with Vonage should know that the BBB (Better Business Bureau) revoked their accreditation in March 2007, because Vonage had a track record of failing to resolve or respond to complaints about their service.

I was a customer for 4 years, and recently switched carriers due to a longstanding issue with voicemail technical service.  When I placed an order to disconnect, the CSR fraudulently switched me to a month to month plan.

Avoid this service if at all possible.  I used to evangelized Vonage (see my past posts), but now I can no longer do so.
