What services are recommended for a 2004 Chevy Avalanche. It has 52,000miles, 4X4, Z71. Its running good and I want to keep it that way. I'm a little concerned...there is some belt slipping noise but only when I turn sharply?? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

  1. every 5,000 miles.

  2. serpantine belt, rearend fluid change, brake check, plug check, wire check, air filter, trans filter , cabin filter, check coolant level and condition, injector cleaning ....... the dealer will give you a comprehensive list of what THEY FEEL should be done --and you better believe it will not be cheap !!!  you can do most of it yourself.  the plugs and wires should go 100,000 according to chevrolet.. mine went 70,000. checking out wearable or "consumables" is standard stuff and not too hard to do. the rearend fluid is the worst.. smelly and expensive fluid. if the level is up and you dont see any metals, leave it alone. it should be changed around 80,000. its sythetic and it does not wear out like regular oils. i have a 2001 hd and i have had no problems with these things i do check them and change the oils every 3000 and the trans filter every other oil change. i now have 150,000 miles on it and it runs great ! best truck i've ever had . i also tow a 38 foot fifth wheel ( 14000lbs)and it tows perfectly !  good luck wih your truck.. its a good one

  3. engine oil changes every 3000 miles ( 5000 km) Colling system flush every 2 yrs, Transmission service at 60,000 miles (100,000 km) Differentials 75,000 miles (110,000 km) in winter months the oil should be changed more frequently due to condensation (i change mine every 3 months in winter regardless of mileage). The squeak or squeal when turning the wheel means the belt is slipping on the power steering pump pulley. Your owners manual will give the proper maintenance intervals for all your fluid changing as well as fuel filter and air filter scheduled change outs. I personally follow the schedule I posted here and replace fuel filter every second oil change as well as the air filter. I also upgraded to synthetic oil in the transmission/transfer case and the differentials, it costs a little more but is worth it in the long run am also using synthetic in the engine as well.
