What are the different steps of maintenance of a 2-stroke outboard motor rather than a 4-stroke outboard motor?

  2. A two stroke motor's maintenence consists of mainly preventive maintenence, they don't have an internal oil sump like a 4 stroke does which requires an oil change every 40 or so hours. Basically with 2 stroke motors, wash them down after every use with fresh water and then give them a spray down with a good quality lubricant/corrosion inhibitor. And then every 6 months or less depending on how much it's used do a compression check on the cylinders to make sure none are leaning out, the above applies for 4 strokes as well, plus the oil change Also the spark plugs may require checking aswell on a 2 stroke if your running average quality oil as they can get dirty and affect performance.
