Mainz midfielder Jan Kirchhoff fears relegation battle with current form- Bundesliga news
FSV Mainz midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Kirchhoff-c17769 has admitted that his side could be battling for relegation at the end of the season, if they continue with their current form. He urged his teammates to step-up and show improvement so that they
can return to the form with which they started the campaign.
Die Nullfunfer are currently struggling in 15th place on the Bundesliga standings table with nine points from the 10 games played. Their form has dropped miserably from the start of the season after the club won the
two opening fixtures in the German League. They have been unable to find a victory in the next eight games, drawing three and losing five.
Kirchhoff admitted that the team’s form has been drastic in the last two months and claimed that they will surely be fighting the relegation battle if they continue playing the same way. However, he is confident that the club can
improve on the current form and move away from the bottom half.
“The situation is what it is, there's no point trying to gloss over it - but no grounds for panic either. I'm totally convinced we can get away from the bottom. I wouldn't go that far,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to
Bundesliga.de.
The midfielder is satisfied with his current form for the team but admits he can improve further if he keeps working hard. He added that there is lot of competition in the team and every player has to fight for his place week in
week out to earn a chance, which is good for the club. He also expressed his delight on garnering praise from the manager after the performance against Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536.
“There are no first-team guarantees here. You have to work to earn your place every week. We're evenly covered from front to back in the squad. That said, it's nice to be praised by the coach of course,” the player concluded.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 will take on Werder Bremen at the Coface Arena on Saturday, October 29. The side will be looking to secure their third win of the season in front of the home fans.
