Majestic City and Shared Property headline the Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland
The 2-year-old Peter Mille trained colt, Majestic City has now officially entered Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity, after racing wild in his first three races and winding up third in Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity at Del Mar will now continue to get back on winning
ways in the $400,000 event at Keeneland on 8 October.
The son of City Zip, out of It’schemistrybaby by Meadowlake, is the part of the 16 juveniles entered for the race which is limited to 14 starters, the runners number would remain the same to have a full gate, if there are two early scratches occur.
Majestic City will pair up with unbeaten 2-year-old gelding, Shared Property, as the only grade 3 winners in the race and will top the lot in the Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity.
The Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity is run over a distance of 1 1/16 miles over the Keeneland Poly Track, and is also the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” race for the Grade 1 Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs.
The Bloom Racing Stable owned Majestic City, has won 3 out of 4 starts, breaking his maiden at Hollywood Park at about 4 ½ furlongs on 21 May.
Moved on to stakes races staying at Hollywood Park and winning the Willard Proctor Memorial under jockey David Flores on 12 June, covering the distance in 1 minute and 4.16 seconds.
After a successful run in the stakes race, Majestic City got promoted to a Grade 3 race in the Hollywood Juvenile Championship which he nailed on 17 July, and went 3 of 3 with a hundred percent record over the Hollywood Park’s synthetic surface.
The seven furlong long Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity saw Majestic City didn’t hit the wire first for the first time in his career, but finished on the money as third behind Drill and Creative Cause on 7 September.
That was Majestic City’s only start outside of Hollywood Park. On the other hand, Shared property has so far has been resurfaced on two occasions.
Breaking his maiden at 6 furlongs and then winning the Grade 3 Arlington Washington Futurity at Arlington Park on 10 September.
