Me and my fiance have narrowed it down to have our wedding on one of these two boats...What is your personal experience with these? We are located in Cleveland Ohio.

  1. Well, for one thing your marraige may not be legal.  At one time the Captain of a ship was permitted to conduct wedding ceremonies but now they have to be a licenced JP, Justice of the Peace or a Commissioner of Oaths.  For your own information please do not refer to a Cruise Ship as a boat.  A ship can carry a boat but a boat cannot carry a ship.

  2. Which ships?  You mean Oceania's Nautica vs. RCI's Majesty of the Seas? Those two are pretty different.

Oceania's more high-end.  Really nice.  No chapel, but the lounge at the top of the ship would be a great venue.  That said, I'm not 100% sure Oceania does onboard weddings.

Majesty of the Seas isn't as high end as Nautica, but it's nice. Definitely a lot more reasonable in price.

  3. I'm not sure about these two ships as I haven't sailed on them but I got married on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas last year.  It's the worldest largest cruiseship.

If getting married this way is for you, then go for it.  We had a wonderful wedding and the cruise was fabulous.  Be sure to start planning well in advance.

And to the guy above me...cruiseship weddings are very legal...there the same as any destination wedding.  Your legally married in the country where the ship is docked and when you return home, you just provide your marriage certificate as proof.  So far I've changed my name on all my legal papers and haven't had a problem...people just look puzzled for a bit because the certificate is from Jamaica and I live in a small community...people don't get out a lot!!

    good luck and congrats!
