Major League Baseball Power Rankings: Week 13 - Part 1
American Leagues’ New York Yankees occupied the first spot in the latest MLB Power rankings of week 13. The Yankees come on top due to their exemplary Win-Loss record of 45-31 in the previous games of the current season.
The Yankees’ starting pitcher, A.J. Burnett had an extraordinary season for his team. He was the key player for the Yankees and maintained his ERA to 4.00 and struck-out 1699 batters in his entire baseball career. David Robertson, the relief pitcher for
the Yankees, took their team to first position as he helped the Yankees in the previous three games by delivering curveballs in the right areas.
Philadelphia Phillies had a promising Win-Loss record of 49-30 in the last four weeks and remained at the second spot on the rankings. The Phillies’ starting pitcher, Cliff Lee earned fame in this week by providing game-winning performances in last two games.
He retained his ERA to 3.82 and advanced his strike-outs to 1192.
Despite a frustrating week, the Red Sox maintained their third spot and had a Win-Loss record of 45-32. Boston lost four straight games against the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Diego Padres in this week. The Red Sox second baseman, Dustin Pedroia was the
only player who displayed his abilities and gave two wins to his team.
National Leagues’ Tampa Bay Rays was on Number 4 spot as they pumped up into the last series and made their winning record better than the last week. The Win-Loss record was 44-34 until the last game.
Atlanta Braves were on Number 5 after having a better on-base percentage of .306. The Braves’ batters and pitchers showed outstanding performances in the last three games to take their team to a higher level.
Milwaukee Brewers stepped down to the sixth position due to their satisfactory Win-Loss record of 44-35. Yuniesky Betancourt maintained his batting average in the previous two games against the Minnesota Twins and the Brewers were almost on their way to
sweep the Twins.
San Francisco Giants lost his fourth spot due to shaky performances delivered by the batters and the pitchers. They were on Number 7 as their Win-Loss record moved to 44-34 in the last seven days. The Giants’ manager, Bruce Bochy took his team to upper rankings
as he was very co-operative and friendly with the batters and gave them some tricky tips.
Texas Rangers were on Number 8 position in the 13th week as their offence has managed a Win-Loss record of 41-38. Alexi Ogando was amazing in the last series against the Braves. In general, Ogando struck-out 39 batters and had an ERA of 1.30.
Detroit Tigers also lost their spot from Number 6 to Number 9 as their batters did not perform well this week. Justin Verlander and Austin Jackson were on top for the Tigers in their respective departments and the rest of the players were disappointing.
Arizona Diamondbacks were on Number 10 as they set their Win-Loss record to 43-36. The Diamondbacks’ reliever, David Hernandez had a satisfactory performance in the last two appearances as he maintained his ERA to 1.00.
Cleveland Indians had a Win-Loss record of 40-36 and were on Number 11 as Travis Hafner struggled with his pitching. St. Louis Cardinals were on Number 12 as Yadier Molina managed a Win-Loss record of 41-38 with the batting average of .217 in the last four
games.
Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Angels and Pirates were on Number 13, 14 and 15 respectively.
