Major League Baseball Power Rankings: Week 13 - Part 2
Washington Nationals attained Number 16 spot in the MLB power rankings for week 13. The Nationals had a Win-Loss record of 40-38 as their pitchers were on top right through last week. Jordan Zimmermann and John Lannan both gave the Nationals a solid start
in the last four to five games. Zimmermann struck-out 163 batters and had an ERA of 4.43 through the month of June, 2011.
Colorado Rockies slipped down from the Number 16 to Number 17. The Rockies’ third baseman, Ty Wigginton lifted the potential of his team during the last week as he was remarkable with the bat and struck four home-runs in six games. With the challenging performance
of Wigginton, the Rockies improved their Win-Loss record to 38-39.
Toronto Blue Jays were at Number 18 with a Win-Loss record of 39-39. The Jays’ third baseman, Jose Bautista was credited on the recovery of the Jays. If we go through the overall performance of Bautista through June 17, 2011, he had 134 home runs, 380 RBIs,
639 hits and 28 stolen bases.
Seattle Mariners also tied their Win-Loss record 39-39 and were on Number 19 in the MLB rankings. The Mariners fell down from Number 14 spot due to last three or four consecutive losses as they were not able to win even a single game. The Mariners’ pitchers
gave some momentum to their team in the series against the Florida Marlins as they sealed the three-game series 2-1.
Chicago White Sox conquered the 20th position as they lost many games as compared to winning ones and had a Win-Loss record of 38-41 at the end of 13th week. The White Sox first baseman, Paul Konerko shined in the last week as he maintained
his batting average to .282 and hit one home-run.
New York Mets dropped down to Number 21 after reaching the 19th position. The Mets had the worst record this week as they lost only one out of five games but due to overall Win-Loss record of 39-39, they faced a tough time. Jose Reyes was surprising
for the Mets as he had 14 triples and 39 multi-hits in previous seven games.
Oakland Athletics were outstanding in every discipline and are on Number 22 as they rise up from Number 27. The Athletics had a Win-Loss record of 35-44. The pitchers and batters both were struggling as they had less experience.
Baltimore Orioles’ players suffered some injury problems but they slipped down to only one spot as they attained 23rd position with a Win-Loss record of 35-40. Andy MacPhail was seriously injured during the last game of the week and had been replaced
by J.J. Hardy.
Minnesota Twins remained at Number 24 due to a five-game losing streak. Delmon Young and Justin Morneau both were injured on a collision with the base fielders. The pitchers were shaky with the ball as they allowed many runs and gifted scoring hits to the
batters.
Los Angeles Dodgers had a Win-Loss record of 35-44 and were at Number 25. Clayton Kershaw was the only player who gave tough time to the batters. In the previous week, he was able to strike-out 26 batters in 25 pitched innings.
The Marlins had a worst Win-Loss record of 34-44 and attained the 26th position. San Diego Padres dropped down to Number 27 as Tim Stauffer did not perform well in the first three games of the week.
Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros had lower MLB rankings of 28, 29 and 30 respectively.
