Major League Baseball Power Rankings - Week 4 – Part 2
The Boston Red Sox stand at Number 11 with a record of 11-13. They moved up by a mind boggling 14 spots after their disastrous season starts that almost made them the laughing stock in Major League Baseball. The Los Angeles Angels had to learn the hard way
that once the starters lfor the Red Sox start performing, there isn’t much the opposing team can do.
The Milwaukee Brewers stood where they were last week at Number 12. Twelve seems to be the number for the Brewers as their record also stands at 12-12. Ryan Braun is currently the most talked about player from the Brewers side as he leads baseball ranking
after he belted out eight home-runs and 20 RBIs.
The Tampa Bay Rays have moved up four spots to reach the Number 13 position in the rankings. They have a 14-11 record, as even though their offence has been disappointing to say the least their pitching keeps the fans looking forward to more matches. Due
credit has to be given to James Shields for revitalising the Ray’s pitching staff.
The Kansas Royals come with a 12-13 record and stand at Number 14 moving down seven positions. Their pitching staff needs immediate improvement as this is their weakness and the opposing teams maximise on this flaw of their to belt out runs against them.
The Los Angeles Dodgers remain at Number 15 with a 13-13 record. It seems like Matt Kemp who has a .396 batting average and 18 RBIs so far is the only person doing the hard work for the team. James Loney hasn’t had any significant input pitching wise.
The Oakland Athletics are at Number 16 which is six spots down from where they were last week. Their record stands at 12-13. Although their ERA is leading the Majors at 2.54 the Athletics scoring is the issue. Coco Crisp’s batting at .281 is leading the
team.
The San Francisco Giants move down by nine spots to land at Number 17. Their record is at 12-12. Brian Wilson has been criticised for his pitching issues as his ERA reaches 9.82 which is very out of character for the closer. Looks like the abundance of his
beard and commercials is distracting him from what he is actually supposed to do which is to pitch like a pro.
At Number 18 are the Atlanta Braves who have managed to move up by four spots. Their record is 13-13. Jair Jurrjens has been improving on his already hot start against the Padres’ almost nonexistent offence. The Braves are improving and look to climb higher
in next week’s rankings.
The Washington Nationals fall down by six spots and currently stand at Number 19 with an 11-13 record. Michael Morse is the saving grace for this team as he belts out hit-after-hit for the team whenever an opportunity is given. He just finished hitting at
.316 along with 4 RBIs and a home-run, marking his best week of the season.
The Minnesota Twins move up a spot to reach the 20th position. Although Matt Capps has had three saves since he took over the closer role, which Joe Nathan previously was, the problem lies in the fact that there are very few opportunities for
saves in the first place.
