Major League Baseball Power Rankings - Week 4 – Part 3
The Toronto Blue Jays take up 20th position after moving up five spots. Their record stands at 12-13. Except for Jose Bautista, nothing or no one is expected to do any wonders this season, once again. Bautista’s performances have been something
to talk about and it is anticipated that by the time this season finished he would defiantly be leading the American League in most of the offence categories.
Pittsburgh Pirates come at Number 21 after sliding down six spots. Their record stands at 11-14. Neil Walker, their offence leader has managed only two RBIs in his last nine games. Definitely something the Pirates should be worried about.
New York Mets moved up by four spots to come at Number 23 with a 11-14 record just like the Pirates. David Wright and Ike Davis are definitely helping them climb up the ranking as they hit three homers each last week.
Arizona Diamondbacks move down a spot to Number 24 even after they successfully defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, who are the current Number one on the ranking, for their second series loss since the season started. Ian Kennedy, who just had a daughter
dazzled everyone as he out pitched the greatness of Cliff Lee on Monday.
Chicago Cubs drop down eight spots to reach Number 25 with a 10-14 record. Matt Garza hasn’t been able to support his team like he should have due to his health issues. The rest of the rotation needs a major shakeup as well. It seems that the Cubs are struggling
to get their offence to work and put in a decent performance to improve their current standings in the League.
The Baltimore Orioles come at Number 26 climbing four spots to reach there with a 10-13 record. They had quite a start as they went 6-1 but have slowed down considerably since then. New York has swept the team twice already and the season is just beginning.
Houston Astros come next at Number 27 with a 9-16 record. They moved up by one spot to reach there. Brett Wallace is once again starting to resemble the kind of player he used to be when he played with the likes of Cliff Lee, Matt Holliday and Roy Halladay.
Chicago White Sox are currently at the 28th position with a 10-16 record as they drop down eight spots. Even though Manager Ozzie Guillen has publically expressed his frustration over the team’s state, nothing seems to be improving, as hopefully
things will improve for the White Sox before it’s too late. The White Sox are looking to improve their performance on the field, to improve their rankings.
San Diego Padres has the absolute worst offence in baseball history and there seems to be no ray of hope for them. Things are not going to be improving their 9-16 record as they slip down five spots to reach there. The Padres are working hard to improve
their offence as the season has just begun and they want to improve their standings.
The Seattle Mariners fall down one spot to take the last position in baseball, the 30th position. Hopefully Michael Pineda and Felix Hernandez keep on improving steadily and there is hope that things would take a turn for the better this time
around for the Mariners.
