Major League Baseball Power Rankings: Week 6 - Part 3
Power Rankings determine the position of Major League Baseball teams from the Number one to the 30th spot based on their performances throughout the week. The Philadelphia Phillies are soaring high as they stay on the top spot for the third week
straight. They are followed by the Cleveland Indians, the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays at the second, third and fourth position respectively.
The Colorado Rockies come at number five followed by the St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Angels at the sixth and seventh position. The Florida Marlins slip down to the eighth position and the Atlanta Braves climb up their way to number nine.
The Texas Rangers slip down five spots to reach the 10th position with an 18-17 record. Things don’t seem to look too bright for the team which has been giving one awful performance after another since their shining star, Josh Hamilton got injured.
They have lost six out of the seven last series they have played and out of 25 games, as they could only manage to win their last 16 ones. This doesn’t seem to be the same team that gave the San Francisco Giants a run for their money at the World Series last
year. The only saving grace of the team seems to be Michael Young who has proved to be a pleasant surprise among all the awful shocks that the team seems to be intent on giving its fans. Young is currently batting at .341/.373/.493.
The Cincinnati Reds come down by one spot to settle on the 11th position in the rankings. They have an 18-16 record. With Homer Bailey and Johnny Cueto back from their trip on the Disabled List, the team is expected to increase their position
by the time next week’s ranking come around given the incredible pitching of the pair. Together they went 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA and only allowed to let one run pass them by. It looks like the pair is ready to give the Philadelphia’s Four Aces some competition.
Next up are the Kansas City Royals at the 12th position, climbing four spots from last week to reach there. They are leading Major League Baseball with the highest number of home wins which is 15. Eric Hosmer lived to the expectations of his highly
anticipated debut with 3-for-9 along with three walks. They won six out of their nine last games.
The Oakland Athletics are at the 13th position, climbing five spots to get there. There record stands at 18-17. For most of the part, the Athletics have managed to stay within the .500 category. Even with all this they aren’t thought of as serious
contenders for the World Series title and need to re-vamp their image within the American League West.
