Major League Baseball Power Rankings: Week 6 - Part 6
As this week’s power ranking come to an end, let’s have a recap of the teams that remained where they were, the teams whose position increased and the teams whose position decreased.
The Philadelphia Phillies are going strong for the third week straight as they remain on the Number one spot. They are closely trailed by the Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees come at the third position with Derek Jeter belting out his first two
homers of the season in Texas. The Tampa Bay Rays are tied for the top position in the American League East as they settle down at the fourth position. The Colorado Rockies come at the fifth spot after being swept away by the San Francisco Giant.
On the sixth, seventh and eighth position we have the St Louis Cardinals, The Los Angeles Angels and the Florida Marlins respectively. The ninth position is taken over by the Atlanta Braves as Jair Jurrjens 1.50 mark is the highest in its League. The Texas
Rangers come next at the 10th position as Michael Young seems to be their only saving grace since Josh Hamilton got injured.
The Cincinnati Reds come at Number 11 with Homer Bailey and Jonny Cueto making their season debuts followed by the Kansas City Royals on the Number 12 spot. The Oakland Athletics are on the 13th spot given that they have managed to stay over .500
since the season started. The reigning World Series Champions, the San Francisco Giants come at the 14th position and are followed by the Boston Red Sox at Number 15, who have started recovering from their very shaky and miserable start of the season.
The Detroit Tigers are at Number 16 trailed by the Toronto Blue Jays, the Washington Nationals, the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates for the 16th, 17th
and 18th position.
At Number 21 we have the Los Angeles Dodgers who are followed by the Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Mets. The Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles come at the 25th and 26th position.
The 27th position goes to the San Diego Padres with a 14-20 record. They have just recently improved their home record to 7-14 by defeating Arizona.
Next are the Chicago White Sox who have slipped down four positions to land at Number 28 with a 13-22 record. Like the Red Sox they had a very shaky start but thanks to Philip Humber, they are right back on track. Humber has a 2.97 ERA in the duration of
40 innings.
The Minnesota Twins slip down one spot form last week’s ranking to get the 29th position in the rankings with a 12-20 record. The only time the Twins were in positive spotlight was when Francisco Liriano delivered a no hitter which no one had
anticipated.
The Houston Astros take the last spot on the ranking with a 13-21 record. They had a lot of opportunities to win but they have wasted nine out of their 14 save opportunities. Their bull-pen, which was one of the team’s strengths, is definitely struggling.
