Major League Baseball Power Rankings: Week 7 - Part 4
The New York Mets come at the 23rd position, falling one spot down from where they were last week with a 19-21 record. This year is starting to shape up pretty well for the Mets who have just recently won their fourth road series. Their performance
is already better than last year, where they could only manage to win five throughout the entire length of the season. Jose Reyes is still on top of the National League with the highest number of hits since the season began, which is 54 along with 13 doubles,
six triples and 14 stolen bases.
The Chicago Cubs slipped down five spots from last week’s 19th position to reach the 24th position this week with a 17-21 record. Carlos Zambrano has managed to pleasantly surprise everyone with his performances. His pitching in the
last five starts has been exceptionally well. Zambrano only let one home-run pass him by in the 34 innings.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are at the 25th position with a 17-22 record. As a manager if there is one thing that Kevin Towers knows how to do right, it is to assemble a nearly flawless bull-pen that has not failed to deliver as of yet.
The Chicago White Sox are the 26th position with a 17-24 record. Although the team has not managed to make an impression on anyone till now, they have been achieving small victories which may help establish them as a serious contender for the
division title with the passage of time. They had a 4-2 record last week which was the first non losing week, since the season began in week one. Their closer Sergio Santos has also been attracting the right sort of attention to himself as he has not given
up single run in the 19 innings he has pitched till now.
The Houston Astros climbed three spots from the last spot in the Power Rankings to reach the 27th position. Their record stands at 15-25. Brett Wallace is currently supporting a .241 batting average against left hand players and Carlos Lee seems
to be stuck with his .222 batting average against righties.
The San Diego Padres who are at the 28th position this week are tied to lead the Major League with the highest runs scored in the month of May at 74. The total runs they managed to accumulate while playing 13 games in May is more than what they
could gather while playing 26 games in April.
The second last position; the 29th spot goes to the Seattle Mariners. They have a 16-23 record and their recent loss of six games is not helping matters for them. Brandon League has three lost save opportunities and four losses under his belt.
The Minnesota Twins are the last in the Power Rankings with a 12-26 record with a pretty bad run differential of -391 which is a lot worse than last year -279 run differential of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
