Major League Baseball Power Rankings: Week 8 - Part 3
The Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves take residence at the eighth, ninth and tenth position in this week’s Major League Baseball Power Rankings.
The Cincinnati Reds and Toronto Blue Jays are quick to follow in the 11th and 12th position, as the Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers grab the 13th and 14th spot.
The Los Angeles Angels slipped to the 15th spot from last weeks 11th one with a 24-24 record. Jered Weaver, who was incredible in the month of April is now comparatively exhausted as he goes 0-4 with a 5.25 ERA along with sixteen strike-outs
in 24 innings. He is an average pitcher at the moment, but what the Angels need currently is the pitcher who blew everyone away in April.
The Milwaukee Brewers climb up to the 16th position with a 24-23 record. Zack Greinke has been pitching exceptionally well with him striking out 29 batters and walking a mere two. The team seems to flourish whenever he’s the designated starter,
so as long as Greinke continues pitching well, the Brewers can relax.
Next is the Oakland Athletics on the 17th position with a 22-25 record. They are currently undergoing a winning drought given that the San Francisco Giants recently swept them away in their series. Tim Lincecum showed no mercy at the Oakland batters
as he retired 21 of them. There is a definite need for pulling up of socks by the Athletics.
The New York Mets come at Number 18 with a 22-24 record. Dillon Gee is doing well with his ERA of 2.73 in his past five games where he has been the starter. He only let two homers pass him by in the 29 and two-third innings that he has pitched.
The Kansas City Royals fell down a few spots to land at the 19th position with a 22-24 record. Alex Gordon and Billy Butler haven’t been performing as expected and that is why the Royals have slid down a few places.
The Arizona Diamondbacks climb up five spots to reach the 25th position in the rankings with a 23-23 record. They are on a six game winning high, which is always a nice feeling. Although they are getting wins, they are barely making it, with four
of the wins coming by a mere single run. Three of those win came against the Minnesota Twins who aren’t the most challenging team.
The Pittsburgh Pirates remain where they were last time around that is the 21st position. They have a 22-24 record. The Pirates have been on a roller coaster ride. First they lost six back to back games and then won four in a row. Jose Veras,
Daniel McCutchen and Joel Hanrahan have a cumulative ERA of 1.60 in 61 and two third innings.
