Major League Baseball Power Rankings: Week 8 - Part 4
The Los Angeles Angels, Milwaukee Brewers and Oakland Athletics take up the 15th, 16th and the 17th position in this week’s Major League Power Rankings.
The New York Mets, Kansas City Royals and the Arizona Diamondbacks trail behind closely taking up the 18th, 19th and 20th spot. The Pittsburgh Pirates take up the 21st spot.
The Washington Nationals have 21-25 record, as they remain in the same spot as last week that is the 22nd one. Jayson Werth needs to step up his game if he ever wants to justify the outrageous contract he signed with the Nationals after he hit
the free market agency. Although Jordon Zimmermann’s opponents have a batting average of .220, he has had only one win in his past four starts.
The Chicago White Sox climb three spots to reach the 26th position with a 22-26 record. Alexei Ramirez is on fire as he has the best season of his career, both offensively and defensively. He is arguably one of the best three short-stops in the
competitive American League.
The Seattle Mariners also climbed a few spots to get to the 24th position with a 22-24 record. They are currently in the third position in the American League West but with the way that their rotation has been stepping up their game, they might
be strong contenders for the Number one spot.
The Baltimore Orioles come at the 25th position slipping down by five with a 21-24 record. Vladimir Guerrero seems to be reluctant to take risks. He has been hitting safely in almost all of the 18 games that he has played in the month of May.
The ever controversial Los Angeles Dodgers are at the 26th position dropping one too many spots from last week’s 18th position with a 21-27 record. Things may only get worse for the Dodgers as they are lined up to battle it out ahead
in 19 games with teams who have had winning records.
The Chicago Cubs slip down by a few spots to land at the 27th position with a 20-25 record. Although Jeff Samardzija’s pitching isn’t fabulous, it has managed to keep any home runs from the opposing team at bay. He has not let any homer pass him
by in 25 and one third pitched innings.
The San Diego Padres remain where they were last week, at the 28th position with a 19-28 record. Mat Latos is not performing like he did last year where he gave up six home runs in the duration of 73 innings pitched. This time around he has already
let five homers pass him by in 27 and one third innings.
The Minnesota Twins improve one spot from last week’s bottom position with a 15-30 record. They have been at the bottom, or near bottom of all the Power Rankings this year and with Glen Perkins making his way to the Disabled List, things could not get any
worse for the Twins.
The Houston Astros replace the Twins at the bottom of the Rankings with a 17-30 record. Their only hope is in the form of Wandy Rodriguez who has improved significantly since May kicked off. He has had five strong starts and one can only hope that they continue.
