Major League Baseball Rankings: Week 9 - Part 3
The New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves come at Number six and seven and are followed by the reigning World Series Champions, the San Francisco Giants for the eighth position. The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers come at Number 10 and 11.
The Milwaukee Brewers are at the 12th position with a 29-24 record, improving from last week’s 16th position. Zack Greinke, Nyjer Morgan and Corey Hart are just few of the team’s top players who have missed a substantial amount of time
but even with them absent, the Brewers aren’t struggling. They successfully won in eight of the nine games played. Surprisingly it’s the pitching that is helping the Brewers put up these wins with an above average 3.85 ERA.
The Cincinnati Reds come next along with a 27-27 record slipping down two spots to land on the 13th position this time around. The Red’s Jay Bruce is currently leading the National League in home-runs with 11 homers and 29 RBI’s to his name, only
in the month of May. Joey Votto is the league leader for walks while hitting .330/.463/.515. It’s not all good news for them though. The Reds have been plagued with injuries as Homer Bailey along with Johnny Cueto has been spending a lot of their time at the
Disabled List.
Toronto Blue Jays are at the 14th position this week with a 27-26 record. Jose Bautista remains to be a mystery in the world of baseball as he unleashed his entire hitting prowess that has been complimenting his last year’s performances. He is
currently .356/.502/.791, 254 OPS with 20 home-runs as well. The risk Toronto took in extending his contract seems to be paying off with them being a mere two games behind the American League East leader. None of the American League pitchers seem to have the
ability to take down the phenomenon that Bautista is. Yunel Escobar maybe unknown but is the best every day short-stop in a league that boasts of experienced and established short-stops like Derek Jeter among others.
The Los Angeles Angels remain where they were last week, at the 15th spot with a 28-27 record. The team is in need of a lot of changes the most important being that the players have to get healthy. Next the management needs to make full use of
whatever talent they have on hand. More players like Howie Kendrick are needed who are pushing past their capabilities to clean up the rest of the teams mess. Currently the American League West doesn’t have a strong front runner and almost all the teams have
a chance at this point. Something needs to be done about Torii Hunter who will be continuing next season as well with his below average performance but an above average $30-million pay slip.
On the 16th spot, the Detroit Tigers are present with a 26-26 record. The team seems to be on a roller-coaster ride as they give back-to-back streaks of wins and then slump to a group of losses. Justin Verlander’s no-hitter marked the first of
the season and is still a mystery even though a month has passed since it happened. Alex Avila and Jhonny Peralta are the only other players worth mentioning who have been doing their part behind the plate and offence wise, respectively.
