Major League Baseball: Scott Feldman of Texas Rangers undergoes knee surgery
It was recently announced in media reports that Scott Feldman of the Texas Rangers had a knee surgery on Wednesday. Now it’s come out that the starting pitching for the Texans had the operation done on Thursday. The news comes after a deadline on options
exercise, passed on after midnight. The player underwent a micro fracture surgery on his right knee and is expected to stay out of spring training for a long time. Many reports suggest that the ball thrower will not be around in the world of baseball for about
3 months.
At the moment, Scott is under contract with the Rangers and he’s slated to be compensated $4.4 million for 2011. If he hangs out with the team well and maintains a healthy form in the game, the pitcher can avail his $6.5 million package in the following
year. Given Feldman’s fitness woes, supporters of the club will be hoping the player can come back to the starting rotation and add a variety of deliveries to the mound.
Scott maintained a poor Earning Runs Average of 5.48 during the regular season. The 27 year old was ineffective in most of his matches. In 22 game starts, he conceded 11 losses and won 7. He participated in 7 fixtures as a member of the bullpen. There is
still a great number of years left on the ball thrower but if his proneness to injury doesn’t diminish in the coming year, there will be a problem for the club, which will look to ship him out in July or by the end of the next season.
The right hand pitcher nevertheless, was a missing figure in the World Series, following his weak form on the mound. Many supporters will hope to see the man rise up and provide for his club when he comes back from a long layoff. April is far away and in
some way, this time can act as a pacifier for the player to recover from his surgery.
It is however notable to mention that Feldman’s performance during 2009 was astonishing. The pitcher won 17 games and restricted his Earning Runs Average to 4.08. That will be something everyone in Texas will be looking forward to when the ball thrower comes
back to the side in the spring training.
