Major League Baseball Special: What to expect from Arizona Diamondbacks in 2012...?
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ have just completed a wonderful 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training playing in their backyard in Cactus League and now looking in great shape to establish a early good impression before the start of new season.
The 2011 proved land mark for the Diamondbacks where they achieved 94-68 record and shut many experts’ mouths as they initially predicted of some poor results of Arizona’s baseball team. Some of very low profiled players inspired the Diamondbacks’ experienced
roster when they secured seven games out of 10 they last played in the regular season.
This was itself a huge achievement for a franchise who initially considered an average opponent having no fighting spirit at all. However, with the small stint at the end of the regular season, send a shock wave to many as the Diamondbacks are also there
competing for the title.
With a tremendous last two weeks’ struggle, the Diamondbacks eventually qualified for the post season. They could have won more games in the later stages of the competition, but the Diamondbacks took things too easy and lost early to the Milwaukee Brewers
in National League Divisional Series.
In the meanwhile, the 2011 performance is not a part of next season’s strategy. The Diamondbacks have to come up something different which possesses the right kind of objective in it. They need to strengthen their first base. From over the past few years,
the Diamondbacks are failed to produce good first base players. Players like Paul Goldschmidt are the only one behind who can take the responsibility and win games for them.
Whereas Aaron Hill will be focusing on to oversee the second base for the Diamondbacks. Short stop Stephen Drew has also need to play his role whenever the season starts. Drew, Hill and Goldschmidt also considered one of the toughest players in the league.
They possess the ability to generate right kind of thrust which also sometimes needed at the very last stages of the competition. Last season these players acted exceptionally intelligent when down in order their team was playing really bad and they came to
rescue them with their performances.
On the other hand the D-backs' skipper Kirk Gibson is also extremely optimistic and stating in the media that his team is rightly mixed with experience and flexible to show good results next season. He said n detail explaining, "You just never know what
you're going to be up against. You always have to have options.”
He added, “You don't want to back yourself into a corner. Aaron (Hill) is going to see second base, and that's going to be it, But everybody else in the middle of the diamond and on the left side, they can pretty much play all over. If I have to, I'll put
Joe Paterson in the outfield, I watch my guys shag (balls). He's pretty good out there.”
In the meanwhile, though the Diamondbacks are feeling extremely confident ahead of 2012 season, but still they have to focus on their weak points. All season long since offseason has started, they did not find any replacements on first and second base and
relied on past players while it will be little difficult if one of these positioned players get injured in the coming season.
