Major League Baseball Special: What to expect from Chicago Cubs in 2012...?
Chicago Cubs are going into this Major League Baseball season with high hopes as they have completed a very successful Spring Training campaign and now carrying a good form into the next big event.
Cubs’ management including their president baseball operations Theo Epstein is also hoping for a great season for the franchise. He lately has also spoken in the media telling the Cubs’ fans as they will try their best to compete well in the upcoming event.
Some experts, who know baseball a great deal, speculating in the media as Cubs’ good results will rely on Epstein’s laid down strategies and the game plan he has given the Cubs’ late in the offseason. Even when his team was going into this season’s Spring Training, Epstein having confidence on his team, told the media as how his team is looking forward and how energetic they are feeling at the moment.
Epstein said, “I think patience is important, but urgency is important as well. The goal of the 2012 Cubs is to win the World Series. And our goal as an organization is to build an organization that competes on an annual basis in the postseason and gives ourselves a chance to win the World Series.''
Dale Sveum, who is the current manager of Chicago Cubs, also hopeful for his team’s results as he recently mentioned in the media. He said, “Communication, obviously, is huge. It's just a matter of treating these guys like human beings and understanding they're human, no matter how much money they make. Whether it's the top guy or the 25th guy on the roster, they're all human beings and they're going to fail.”
On the whole, the Cubs’ combination of rotation and batting lineup is alright while outfield and infield also looking promising. They just need to play like one unit to earn good standings in their National League Central. Last year, the Cubs went with a winning average of .438. They won 71 and lost 91 games along with 39-42 home record. However, with new offseason additions, the Cubs really have a good chance to the show the opposition an even contest.
The new arrivals include David DeJesus along with Dave Sappelt, Ian Stewart, Travis Wood, Chris Volstad and Anthony Rizzo. Rizzo amongst all is considered to be the best and gave some impression of his brilliance in the Training sessions as well. He played some vital role playing games and started a good beginning.
On the other hand, David DeJesus, Marlon Byrd, Starlin Castro, Bryan LaHair, Alfonso Soriano, Geovany Soto, Ian Stewart and Darwin Barney are trying to confirm their place in the Cubs 2012 lineup. These all good players and know the heavy load they need to carry in the upcoming event. Whereas, the Cubs’ starting rotation consist of Ryan Dempster, Matt Garza, Chris Volstad, Jeff Samardzija and Paul Maholm.
Earlier in the month, some inside sources have speculated in the media that some of Cubs’ will be making their way to another franchise in this season’s mid break, but later this speculation was rejected by the Cubs’ management explaining they have no plans at the moment involving in any kind of destructive trade.
