Major League Baseball Special: What to expect from Milwaukee Brewers in 2012...?
The 2012 Major League Baseball season has brought some good developments for the Milwaukee Brewers franchise. Firstly, the Brewers have got away with their start left fielder Ryan Braun who was almost given the 50-game ban by the MLB authorities on using
performance enhancing drugs (PED) and secondly the Milwaukee management completed a successful Spring Training and now sitting in a quite comfortable place to watch their team play in the upcoming regular season.
The Milwaukee fans are expecting high from their team this time around, but realistically, they also know that these kinds of expectations can be little risky as well. If their team turned out to be more than just big media hype, then it will reflect and
cause many in the Brewers’ management who have been portraying the team a wonderful combination of experience and young blood since start of 2012.
On the other hand, if someone looks at Brewers’ last season’s performance which were not even close to their reputation of tough fighters down the stretch, will fully agree as they certainly needed some good players in that particular season. Winning total
96 National League Central games, Brewers were not consistent at .593 PCT. They somehow managed to deal with their home record of 57-24 and given little space to all the critics to appreciate them as well.
Overall 2011 campaign proved disappointment for the Brewers and for the whole roster. They did not realise even at middle of the season as how fast things can change for any team in the big league. However, leaving all the disappointment behind, the Brewers
are now preparing for the big price. They had done all the hard work in this offseason and now going into the new season with big energy.
The Brewers have some very good players, but the reason they are much optimistic is the way experienced players are behaving and giving the impression of their preparations and of game plan. Even the management has also come out in public and praised its
experienced breed that are more than willing to participate in the coming event. Jose Veras is also one of those few players who seem fully prepared and wanted to do something for his team in the coming big event.
Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke is the first person from the management, who has recognised Veras’ late contribution and spoke well for him during a press conference. Roenicke said, “We really like what we see; I think he’s going to be a big addition to our
bullpen. He keeps the ball down well and his fastball has movement on it. He has a great breaking ball. He is trying to throw more changeups.”
He added, “I think he's very durable. We try not to put that kind of workload on guys. The unfortunate thing is the better you pitch, the more the manager wants to use you. If he was used that much, they really liked him. When he's down in the (strike) zone,
he's going to be really good.”
On contrary to Veras and his preparations, the overall Brewers line-up is also looking in great touch and hoping to show some good and consistent results in the next outing.
