Major League Baseball Special: What to expect from Toronto Blue Jays in 2012...?
Millions of fans across Canada and America are expecting some good results from the Toronto Blue Jays this year. The level of performance by the Blue Jays’ roster has increased over the past one year and now they are looking enormously confident and positive to show some spirited performance in the next big event.
The Spring Training went okay as far as the hitting and pitching was concerned, but to dominate fully and prove themselves on the field, they need slight extra hard work on their ability to manoeuvre the offensive strategy into defensive whenever the situation demands in crucial games.
Keep in mind that the Blue Jays’ were poor last year in their own American League East division and could not show any impressive resistance against the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays losing too many games down the stretch late in the regular season and finished at bottom.
With 81 wins and same number losses last year, the Blue Jays now need a drastic start to elevate and prove their valour in this particular season. The Blue Jays’ now also feeling the comfort level with their star hitter Jose Bautista who recently unfolded his game in the Spring Training with great speed and agility as well as hoping for a great 2012 season.
John Farrell, the new Blue Jays’ manager, has also recently told the media about the tough job and how he will be proceeding forward in order to win games for the franchise. Farrell said, “I know the players returning a heck of a lot better than I did walking in at this time a year ago, And I think just familiarity with what their abilities are will hopefully give more understanding of putting them in situations where they can have success.”
He added, “Obviously when you’re doing something for the first time, you go through your learning periods, I can’t speak for him but I see him making adjustments [this year] when it comes to knowing some of the rules, when to make a pitching change, when to send somebody to warm up or not.”
In the meanwhile, Farrell is also putting some great emphasis on starting infield who includes Adam Lind, Kelly Johnson, Yunel Escobar and Brett Lawrie. All these players are experienced and know to create competitive display of skills in a big an event as well as in a crucial game. While the starting outfield Eric Thames, Colby Rasmus and Jose Bautista are also looking in good shape and hoping for good results whenever their game will be tested.
Blue Jays’ playing roster also receives an enormous amount of confidence from their Minor League as it is considered that after the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees, the Blue Jays farm system is best in the League.
For the meantime, this is also important to mention that the Blue Jays are in transition period. Their new manager and the arrival of some new young players in the offseason need some time to settle. Experts believe, if everything went well and according to the plan, the end result will certainly give the Toronto Blue Jays confidence to stay ahead from all other competitors.
