Major League Baseball Update, Mariners sign Justin Smoak
The Seattle Marines came up signing the Rangers baseman and their first, Justin Smoak. The batting average of 0.203 reflects the potential that this player has. He not only is he a player with a lot of potential but was one of the best basemen in the minors last season. In addition to his splendid batting abilities, he offers rock solid defensive qualities.
It is expected that after coming to the Mariners he will stay for a decade. The upcoming star would without a doubt offer the Mariners the diversity in offense as well as defence which would be something that they have not enjoyed for some time now. The last time they had experienced this was in 2000 during the days of John Olerud. Justin is expected to have a 100% impact on the big league and is top of the list.
Skaggs can’t sign his deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks as yet due to the rule that a player can’t sign a new deal until a complete year has passed after signing the previous one. He will provide the Diamondbacks with a tall,  and splendid lefty, who has just finished an awesome full season. He delivers balls in the 90s and has loads of movement in the 70s. This being his Low-A ball career statistics, assures that he would reach the High-A ball. He however would make it to the High-A ball once he joins the Diamondbacks.
Tim Collins is the next player who will be joining the Braves to form a young group of talent. It seemed unfair to sign Collins who came from Toronto with Alex Gonzalez. The squad of the Braves has some of the best young guns like Johnny Venters, Craig Kimbrel, Peter Moylan and Mike Dunn and now soon they will be adding Tim Collins to it. His tiny structure when delivers a low 90s ball or the curve ball, catches his opponents off guard. The left handed pitcher has an awesome 82 strikes in only 48 innings. A 66% chance of making a significant impact on the big league won’t come as a surprise to the Braves after signing Tim and in the running of the NL East crown.
Blake Beavan signed by the Mariners, took some bold decisions in doing so as he didn’t have a particularly good season. The Mariners however keeping in mind the player profile and a player who is a fourth-starter type. Though he delivers in 88-92 mph speed range, his results are nothing less than extra ordinary. The extravagant player has managed 10 game wins twice in three seasons. The excellent command of his on the pitch reflects by the type of ball he delivers and is expected to make a 65% impact on the big league time.
The high potential Michael Main hasn’t been able to perform as he should have due to health issues. His cracked ribs limited his appearances to 13 per season before this year. The lofty pitcher is on the training grounds and working hard to regain his once best pitcher crown. Keeping in mind the future, the Rangers traded Main to San Francisco for Bengie Molina. Like Tim, Main is a little under-sized but his balling abilities don’t reflect this fact. He could end up starting in the Giants if he keeps working hard to reach the heights of being the greatest pitcher in the organization.
The final player we will discuss is the Angeles’s Pat Corbin. Corbin who was a 2009 draftee, managed to put up quite a show in the High-A ball. Given the potential he has, he can surely make it to the Double-A ball for his new team. He has been putting up consistent performances and managed an outstanding 106 strikeouts and 28 walks in 119 innings. Corbin is seen as a number three or four starter and it is expected to have a 55% impact on the big league team with his trade to Arizona Diamondbacks.
