Major League Baseball: World Series Champions prepare for San Francisco Parade
The San Francisco Giants had done what many had not thought was possible for a long while. They won the World Series and clinched the biggest trophy in Major League Baseball after 56 long years. The last time the ball club ever won the prize was back in
1954. They had moved to San Francisco after that but had failed to import their form from New York when they aligned themselves with the West division region.
The National League ball club won the series after Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner, Cody Ross, Aubrey Huff, Andres Torres and World Series Most Valuable Player, Edgar Renteria combined to pulverize the Texas Rangers and grasp the competition by
the neck, in the 5th game against veteran Cliff Lee. The biggest name missing from the list was manager, Bruce Bochy. Everyone knew the gaffer’s tactics were impeccable and intelligent. The skipper made the victory possible for the club through
strategizing every scenario and when the time came for the right decisions to be made, he executed them, perfectly.
The side will now hit the streets of San Francisco to bring home the celebrations. Many dignitaries will be present at the occasion and they will be riding with the ball club on open roof vehicles, driving along the Financial District and the Market Street
to the Civic Centre. A key to the city will then be presented to the Giants by Mayor Gavin Newsom. Thousands of fans are expected to be attending the parade and souvenirs are an eyesore in the city now.
Everyone wants to be a part of the excitement now and many local transport companies are urging the people to stake up well on their items. The Bay Area Rapid Transit has urged riders to purchase roundtrip tickets for the day, in order to avoid a crowded
queue. The agency issued a statement saying, “BART is hearing buzz that many people plan to take time off work or even let their kids play hooky from school to see the historic celebration. However, for those with a regular work day or other needs to get to
the city, taking BART can help avoid the additional traffic clogging the roads and parking lots due to the parade.”
