Major League Baseball to announce Top 50 prospects – MLB News
Time has come to unveil names of the annual 50 top prospects of MLB.com. Last year in 2010 the Atlanta Braves’ outfielder Jason Heyward emerged as the best player of the year. Back in 2009 Tampa Bay Rays’ David Price topped the chart before establishing
himself as front of the rotation starter.
Who will stand first? Let’s take a look at the brightest and leading new talent of the annual Major League Baseball top prospects list.
MLB Network has designed a special top 50 countdown program to disclose this year’s version. The live streaming of the show will be on the MLB Network. Critical analysis by MLB.com senior writer Jonathan Mayo and Cleveland Indians’ General Manager john Hart
will be broadcasted in the show hosted by Greg Amsinger.
Only those players who would be able to receive draftee status in this year will become the part of the ranking system. The list would be compiled by using industry sources and scouting opinions as the players will be analysed of their skills and their ability
to make an immediate impact to their prospective team.
Top prospects Mike Trout of Los Angeles Angels, Dustin Ackley from Seattle Mariners and Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals is notable on the list. Philadelphia Phillies’ outfielder Domonic Brown, Tampa Bay Rays’ outfielder Desmond Jennings and right
hander Jeremy Hellickson were among the top half of the 2010 list. They managed to retain their eligibility for this season.
2010 was considered to be the year of pitchers, as 20 of the last season’s Top 50 were hurlers. Will the pitchers maintain their supremacy this season, or will the sluggers demonstrate to rule the talent pool?
It’s tough to predict the position of the prospects, but in the past, the standings have foretold inspiring rookie performances. Buster Posey and Neftali Feliz, 2010’s Rookie of the Year winners, both were in the Top 10 before last season. Though last season’s
rookie class is hard to match, yet there are many players on the Top 50 list who could make a quick impact in 2011.
